  2. I participated in the group discussion, and helped develope questions to ask the librarian. I also helped out during the brainstorming process by discussing possible locations and ideas that could be incorporated into the movie.

  4. This video helped showed how the what we learned in class applies in the real world. The librarian explained the library has a large diversity of people. She also explained how the main digital divide in her library is between different age groups. I thought it was very interesting that the library was able to get a modified mouse in order to accommodation a person who had shaky hands. This story made me realize that each person has their own needs. When I helped brainstorm questions, I had more general questions in made and did realize how each person has there own story behind the digital divide.

  6. I think participating group project provided me a great chance to think about what we have learned from this course, and apply ideas from class to the real situation. Specially, I was able to think about “digital divide” around us, I was amazed by how much we are dependant on technology. Furthermore, watching videos from other groups are also very interesting because every video contains unique point of view to see us and the relationship between us and “library”, “digital divide.” I think now I have a strong sense of what is the role of library and how library works as an equalizer to close “digital divide.”
I participated group discussion and came up with an idea about our group topic. I did a general research about south branch library by using the website we used in the beginning of course, and also helped to make questions for interview with librarian.

  7. I think that this group project was a great way to tie everything that we learned together. And, I think that our idea was a good method to show that the digital divide is not only on over-populated cities or the "ghettos" but in fact, it's surrounding us.
I have lived in Madison for about 11 years now and I have seen both sides of town. The UW-Madison side where everything is up-to-date and modern and neighborhoods such as the south park one. It is completely different and I feel that everyone should know about it.

As mentioned by my fellow group members, I helped out by putting my ideas into the brainstorming. =]

  8. I helped in the brainstorming procedure, discussing possible places to use in our video. I also helped come up with what questions were going to be asked to the librarian.
This video helped show that the issues and problems discussed in discussion and lecture are in the real world and even here in Madison. The digital divide is here in our own community. She went into detail about the divide and how it's mainly between different age groups. Overall, this project was very educational and applied what we learned to the real world.

  9. As for my part in the project I participated in group discussions and brainstorming with the rest of our group. I also set up the interview with Mrs. Wagner, and conducted the interview at the south madison library. This interview really opened my eyes to the surrounding Madison community, not just the little oasis that is UW-Madison. Upon entering the library, I noticed all kinds of culturally diverse fliers and advertisements. Also the patrons at the library were very diverse. Through my discussion with Mrs. Wagner I realized that although Madison is a very well-to-do community and up there in terms of urban areas and socioeconomic status, we still face many problems with the digital divide locally. It was interesting to finally see the divide first hand, instead of just hearing about it in our articles and lectures. It made me realize that this is an important and pressing issue in our society. This project was a great way to incorporate a real world aspect to our class.

  10. I helped brainstorm with the discussion questions, and possible different library options with the group. One integral part in our learning process was in choosing a library that is far away and diverse. In my library experience, I've generally only gone to libraries I'm comfortable with that are in areas I spend alot of time, so this library was generally pretty new to me. It was very interesting to see some of the things they focus on at a library designed for diverse patrons opposed to mainly students. The experience was new and it made me want to explore other libraries even further out of my comfort zone.
